Healthy eating habits and cleaning routines are essential to prevent oral diseases such as decay or gum disease. Establishing these foundations early is the best way to set your family on the right path for the future. Our experienced and friendly dental therapist specialises in children’s dentistry, helping create a positive first dental experience for your child.
We provide individuals and families with quality dentistry, from preventative care to thorough checkups, and comprehensive treatment plans as required.
That’s why during your first visit to Dental Harmony, we take the time to thoroughly examine, clean your teeth and explain all your treatment options. We focus on restoring health to your mouth as a whole – rather than your teeth alone. And just so your oral health is maintained at the highest level, we also encourage 6-monthly checks and clean.
A beautiful smile says a thousand words.
And for those of us looking to brighten our smiles, we offer two types of professional teeth whitening: take-home or in-chair.
As the name implies, the take-home option is perfect for patients preferring to whiten their teeth from the comfort of their own home. It involves placing custom made bleaching trays in the mouth for around an hour daily for two weeks. It is an easy and affective way to brighten and whiten teeth.
In-chair whitening offers a more instant result. A whitening gel is applied to the teeth during your time at our surgery, and after two to three hours, patients experience a whiter, brighter smile.
Our teeth whitening patients can also join our White for Life program. Patients receive one tube of whitening gel free (RRP $39) every time they return for their regular 6-monthly checkup and clean appointment. This ensures you not only maintain good oral health, but the teeth continue to remain white and bright.
At Dental Harmony, we use tooth coloured filling materials (often referred to as “white fillings” or composite resin) to restore teeth. They bond well to teeth and mimic the properties of the natural tooth structure. This means cavities can now be restored conservatively with more tooth structure preserved, prolonging the life of the teeth. The look and feel is great, too!
We are here to help any patient who wants to improve their smile. Whether you want to close a gap, change the shape of your teeth, realign or make them straight, we can help you make informed choices to realize these goals and smile with confidence.
Whether for functional or cosmetic reasons, we offer treatment of crowns, implants and bridge-work according to your needs. These are custom-made dental restorations that are permanently fixed to existing teeth to either protect them or replace a missing tooth. And for these reasons, we use only the most innovative dental laboratories with the highest quality materials to give you the best result.
Advancements in anesthesia mean that many preconceived ideas about root canal treatments are thankfully no longer warranted.
‘Root canal’ is the anatomical name used to describe the space inside the tooth encasing the nerve and blood tissue. Bacteria invasion can result in permanent damage, causing the nerve tissue to die-off over time; often without any symptoms to the patient. To keep the tooth disease free, root canal treatment is performed by cleaning, shaping and decontaminating root canals in order to remove any infection and then sealed to avoid further bacterial invasion. Because of the precise nature of the treatment, it is performed over two separate appointments. However, once the treatment is complete and successful, the tooth can avoid being extracted and lost.
Teeth crowding or crooked teeth in children is one of the major concerns for parents when children’s adult teeth begin to erupt. These can be seen in children as young as 5 years old, where the jaw is not wide enough for the erupting adult teeth to align. The development of narrow jaws have become more common due to symptoms/ailment such as allergies, obesities, or sleep disorders in children. Narrow jaws develop due to poor oral posture of the tongue, lips and cheeks during development. By correcting poor oral postures from an earlier age, we can help children develop wider jaws and a balanced bite, and prevent future dental crowding or crooked teeth.
We do this with arch expansion by using either a plate or wire placed behind the upper teeth. Then in conjunction with the wearing of an MRC trainer and daily exercises, our staff work with the children to correct their oral posture and therefore achieve a well-developed jaw and prevent future dental crowding.
So give us a call and speak to our friendly staff if you want to find out more about this treatment.
Do you wake up tired even after a good night’s sleep? Has anyone ever complained that you snore? It is quite possible that you may have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition resulting from airway blockage during your sleep, causing temporary or abnormal pauses in breathing. This can also result in further health issues such as heart conditions. One of the treatment options available is a dental appliance, which is worn while you are asleep. It works by advancing your lower jaw forward which reduces the blockage and allows more airflow when you breathe. It is also very affective in reducing snoring.
Tongue Tie or Lip Tie: Everyone has frena (singular - frenum) – that fold of skin on the underside of the tongue, or that joins the lip to the adjacent gum. Traditionally the term “tongue tie” was known and taught to be a frenum that came all the way to the tip of the tongue. However it has become increasingly apparent both clinically and in research, it is not just appearance that determines diagnosis of a tie. We are now interested in movement, function and the workings of the frenum in relation to the whole body. In the case of the tongue and lip, where a frenum becomes restrictive to the normal functions of the mouth and face, it is considered a lip or tongue-tie, and frenectomy or removal of these ties may be indicated.
The term restriction or tether are more commonly used by those who are experienced with providing accurate diagnoses and treatments because these terms are a more accurate way of describing the clinical issues with function in mind – not appearance alone.
Frenectomy is the removal of a frenum, a small fold of tissue that can be found under the tongue (tongue tie) and/or under the lip (lip tie) and/or the cheeks (buccal tie).
Laser: At Dental Harmony we choose to perform frenectomies with a laser, in particular WaterLase. This is because WaterLase combines water, air and laser energy for a safe, precise and quick frenectomy procedure. Due to its conservative cutting action and continuous water irrigation, WaterLase reduces bleeding, post-operative pain and swelling. And together with analgesic effects, it can also minimise discomfort in patients during and after their procedures.

In Dental Harmony, we are proud to offer our patients the benefits of Laser Dentistry using Waterlase and EPIC™ Laser.

We may suggest contouring or shaping your gums using WaterLase dentistry to improve the appearance of your smile – safely removing excess gum tissue that may give you a “gummy” smile, or make your front teeth appear irregular in size or shape.
REMOVE ORAL GROWTHS
Quickly and safely remove growths or excess tissue in your mouth including gum tissue over an unerupted tooth, small “tags” called papilla, and growths called fibromas.
FIX A “TONGUE TIE” OR PREVENT GUM RECESSION
Connections that restrict the movement of your tongue or cause your gums to recede can be “released” with less post-operative pain.
TREAT PERIODONTAL DISEASE
We recommend using WaterLase dentistry to remove debris and bacteria between your teeth and gums that can cause bleeding gums, gum recession and even loss of teeth. For moderate to severe gum disease, ask your doctor about REPAIR minimally invasive periodontal treatment.
